ETA August 17, 2016 meeting

ETA Members and Friends,

Congestion is the problem.  We can do something about it!

WSDOT has found a way to reduce congestion on northbound I-405 in the north end, between Canyon Park and I-5.  For about $11.5 million of toll revenue, we can get 1.8 miles of peak period general purpose shoulder running.  WSDOT promises construction to start soon.  See; http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/transportation/i-405-chokepoint-getting-a-fix-sooner-than-expected/.   With over 1000 vehicles using the NB On-ramp from SR 527, this added capacity will dramatically improve the northern afternoon traffic experience.  Wonder if saving over $90 million earlier this summer on the I-405/SR-167 Direct Access Interchange construction contract award had anything to do with using the $11.5 million of tolls here?  Are there more spot improvement finds available?

August 17, 2016 ETA MEETING

The August ETA meeting will feature two subject areas:

  1. Bellevue City Councilmember Jennifer Robertson will speak on the Pro side of the City of Bellevue proposed levy to fund “Transportation Neighborhood Safety, Connectivity and Congestion Improvements” within the City.  This 15 cent per $1,000 of assessed value property tax measure was approved for inclusion on the Nov. 8 ballot for City of Bellevue residents.  Councilmember Robertson will discuss the kinds of projects and programs the levy is intended to fund.  Questions and answers will be taken after Jennifer speaks.
        2.  City of Sammamish Deputy Mayor Ramiro Valderrama will speak on the Con side of Sound Transit’s proposed ST 3 tax issue that has been approved for the Nov. 8 ballot for the three county Sound Transit District residents.  Deputy Mayor Valderrama is a member of the NOST3.org campaign committee and will discuss the various aspects of the ST 3 proposal that may stimulate a no vote.  Questions and answers will be taken after Ramiro speaks.

Come with your questions and be prepared for an interesting discussion on two pertinent issues that will be on this falls ballot.
